Where can you find some of this adventure – the Ozark St. Francis National Forests. The Ozark-St. Francis National Forests has an array of outdoor sports activities for everyone. If your interest is in cabins – Lake Wedington and White Rock Mountain have been providing rustic mountain cabins for relaxing getaways since the 30’s.

Ozark-St. Francis National Forests offers Six National Scenic Byways, amazing Ozark vistas, and for those who enjoy the driving pleasure they offer out -of -the way places. They offer over 200 camping and picnic sites, over 9 beaches, special interest areas, wilderness areas, thousands of acres of lakes and streams. But, for the off roading enthusiast, Ozark-St. Francis National Forests offers over 400 miles of trails to satisfy anyone’s thirst for off roading or merely hiking. But, seriously… 400 miles is a long way by foot!

The most highlighted trails include the Moccasin Gap Horse Trail, the Huckleberry Mountain Horse Trail, and Mill Creek Trail. All three trails are marked for horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking as well as off-highway vehicles (OHVs). Ozark Highlands Trail is over 196 miles long and is noted to be the most important trail in the Midwest beginning from the western end at Lake Fort Smith State Park near the Oklahoma border to the Buffalo National River in Northern Arkansas. A new section of the Ozark Highlands Trail called the “Sylamore Section” begins on Spring Creek Road near Mountain View and ends near Leatherwood Wilderness Area.

Horseback riding, mountain biking, floating, boating, and taking pictures are just some of the activities people enjoy while visiting the forests. Each adventure you partake in has its own unique nature quality whether it is cavern tours or even hunting black bear or whitetail deer. St. Francis National Forests blankets 20,946 acres in Eastern Arkansas and is endless with outdoor opportunities of adventure, one of America’s most scenic and picturesque vacation spot.
