Today I would like to share with you another great Jeep fanatic Matthew Duffy or known by his fellow Jeepers and friends Chowda. Why Chowda..? I am not sure.. he did not share that with us, but maybe if you all ask he will fill us all in!  Without further ado.. allow me to turn this over to Chowda – The Only Duffman.

Hi, my name is Matt but everyone calls me Chowda. I’m 33 yrs old and have a wonderful wife of 10 yrs and 3 wonderful kids. They are 6, 10, and 15 yrs of ages – 2 boys and 1 girl. I currently live in Arizona where the off-roading is prime and so far, my favorite place to go is Box Canyon.

I currently run a 1990 Jeep Wrangler YJ. It’s red it has 32 x 11 – 5 x 15 inch tires with a 3 inch lift and a SOA. If I could do any modification to my jeep it would be to add a bigger power plant than I am currently running. I rebuilt my 2.5 liter engine back in June with my own hands. I love wrenching on my jeep. You know what they say “Just Empty Every Pocket.” LOL!! My worst mod was putting on longer shackles for extra lift – while they do the job, they make rocks any higher than the shackles very difficult to get onto. In addition, when you hit a rock with the shackles, it’s like hitting a wall.

I am currently in the process of becoming a member of the Casa Grande 4 Wheelers Club. I only have one more meeting to go! They are a great bunch of guys and gals, and they have a no man left behind policy. I started off-roading when I was about 25 in the dirt hills of Massachusetts. While that was fun I must say its in no comparison to the crawling I do here in Arizona.

I particularly love Jeeping because everyone has a certain comrade when they talk about there rig and most are very willing to answer questions and lend a hand when you need something. You don’t seem to get that from other types of vehicle owners. With Jeeps, we are all proud of them regardless if they are rust buckets or the ultimate crawlers. Everyone is happy with there rig.

The only off-roading story I have is the first time I went off-roading in Arizona to Box Canyon. It was a night ride and a heck of a first time experience. I remember it was a very long night after waiting for someone to fix his drag link after bending it on boulder highway. I didn’t get home to about 4 in the morning but none the less I had a great time. I would say all and all, I love the Jeep history and all the people who love there rigs as much as mine and make sure I go out of my way to learn as much about any type of jeep I can and the history behind it.
